Youth/Family Consultation

A parent-focused consult to understand the family dynamic and determine if youth mediation or youth peer support is needed.

Why Consultation Helps

Research consistently shows that even a single guided conversation can:

  • Reduce emotional overwhelm by 20–35%
    (American Psychological Association)

  • Increase clarity and sense of direction — people report leaving short consultations with a clearer path forward
    (Solution-Focused Brief Intervention studies)

  • Improve confidence in decision-making
    (National Council for Mental Wellbeing)

  • Reduce stress levels when a neutral, supportive person is present
    (SAMHSA)

  • Strengthen engagement with services that actually fit their needs
(NAMI / behavioral health engagement research)

A consultation gives you a steady starting point — calm, informed, and tailored to your situation.

Consultation Options

Standard Consultation

Standard consultations are active, goal-oriented sessions focused on preparation, planning, role-play, and reality-testing for upcoming conversations or decisions.

These sessions may support:

  • Medical appointments

  • School meetings (IEP / 504)

  • Job interviews

  • Difficult family conversations

  • Interventions or boundary-setting

  • Personal or professional decision-making

Standard consultations are not therapy, legal/medical advice, mediation, or peer support. They are designed to help you think clearly, prepare intentionally, and approach conversations with confidence.

Pricing

  • 30-minute consultation — $30

  • 60-minute consultation — $55

Mediation Consultation & Preparation (Non-Neutral)

Mediation consultation and preparation sessions are specialized, non-neutral sessions designed to help an individual prepare for the mediation process itself.

These sessions draw on mediation training and experience to support:

  • Understanding how mediation works and what to expect

  • Preparing mindset and emotional readiness

  • Clarifying goals, priorities, and boundaries

  • Identifying key issues to raise and how to raise them

  • Reality-testing expectations and possible outcomes

  • Reducing reactivity and increasing effectiveness in joint sessions

These sessions are not mediation and do not replace neutral joint mediation.

Pricing

  • 30-minute mediation consult / prep — $40

  • 60-minute mediation consult / prep — $75

Mediation consult & preparation sessions are optional and not required to proceed with mediation.

These sessions are designed specifically to support your effectiveness and readiness in the mediation process.

If you’re unsure which option is the best fit, we can determine that together during scheduling.

-Important Notes-

  • Consultations are not crisis support (call 988 for emergencies)

  • Not legal advice

  • Not clinical or therapeutic treatment

  • Youth consultations always include parent/guardian involvement
