Bridging Seasons LLC

Bridging Seasons LLC is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all individuals and families who participate in our services. As required under Nebraska law, certain concerns involving the safety or welfare of minors or vulnerable individuals must be reported to the appropriate authorities.

This notice explains when and why mandated reporting may occur.

1. What Mandated Reporting Means

Under Nebraska Revised Statute §28-711, individuals designated as mandatory reporters must contact Child Protective Services (CPS) or law enforcement when they have reasonable cause to believe that:

  • a child has been abused or neglected,

  • a child is at significant risk of harm, or

  • a vulnerable adult is experiencing abuse, neglect, or exploitation (per Nebraska Revised Statute §28-372).

As a practice working with families and youth, Bridging Seasons LLC follows these legal requirements.

2. What Types of Concerns Must Be Reported

Reports may be required in situations where information suggests:

  • physical abuse

  • sexual abuse or exploitation

  • emotional or verbal abuse causing significant harm

  • neglect, abandonment, or unsafe living conditions

  • exposure to severe domestic violence

  • threats or statements indicating imminent harm to self or others

  • abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a vulnerable adult

Concerns do not need to be proven or investigated by Bridging Seasons LLC — the law requires that they simply be reported when there is reasonable cause to suspect harm.

3. What Mandated Reporting Does Not Include

Bridging Seasons LLC does not report:

  • disagreements between co-parents

  • discipline concerns that do not meet statutory thresholds

  • emotional disclosures that do not involve risk or harm

  • general family conflict

  • protected or confidential information unrelated to safety

Reports are made only when required by law and only regarding information relevant to safety.

4. How Reports Are Made

If a situation meets the criteria for mandated reporting, Bridging Seasons LLC will contact:

  • Nebraska Child Abuse & Neglect Hotline: 1-800-652-1999
    or

  • Local law enforcement if immediate danger is present.

To the extent possible, Bridging Seasons LLC will remain neutral, factual, and concise in the information shared.

5. Transparency With Participants

Whenever appropriate and safe, Bridging Seasons LLC will:

  • notify the participant or parent/guardian when a report is required,

  • explain the reason for the report, and

  • clarify the legal obligation and limitations of confidentiality.

There may be circumstances where immediate notification is not possible or advisable, such as when doing so could increase risk.

6. Confidentiality Limits

While Bridging Seasons LLC respects the privacy of all participants, confidentiality is limited by law in situations involving:

  • minors

  • vulnerable adults

  • imminent harm

  • threats to safety

These limits apply across all services, including mediation, peer support, group facilitation, youth programming, and consultation.
